If I remember correctly, you get an altar to sacrifice creatures on? Sacrificing elementals will allow you to build a huge battlecruiser.

Hey, John! Yeah, that one's a tough scenario! The whole idea of this opponent is that Jafara is an incredibly powerful demi-god known for her wisdom. It is said that she gives gifts of knowledge and power to those who make her a sacrifice on her altar. But to enter her temple unwisely may provoke her wrath. Only the strongest wizards might endure this demi-goddess' anger. So the whole thing is, you enter the temple and she gets mad at you. The only way to stem her rage is by making her sacrifices. You start play with an Altar of Sacrifice. When you summon a creature onto the Altar, the creature is sacrificed and you gain back an amount of mana in that creature's house of twice that creature's cost. So, sacrifice a Merfolk Elder and you will gain back 10 water mana. In order to beat Jafara you must collect at least 30 mana of each house, Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and your Special Class mana. This can be pretty hard to do. In order to really beat her you have to rely on high cost creatures, mostly Astral Guard and Master Healer. These two will help you tremendously! Slow her down a little and build up mana by sacrificing high-cost creatures on the Altar. Another very helpful card in this scenario is Rejuvenation. If you build up enough Earth mana by sacrifices you can heal a crazy amount of life with this spell. Very helpful! Elementals offer another angle of attack. By sacrificing enough creatures to gain a lot of mana, you can summon an Elemental one after another, building a massive attack elemental! Summon one or two elementals and then sacrifice card of their power to boost their attacks waaaaay high! But you must not let Jafara overwhelm you with her own powerful cards. She likes to summon creatures unblocked. It is important to start sacrificing creatures from the very start of the game. Do not try to summon creatures in slots in the early game. Build up a good stockpile of mana before summoning creatures out on the battlefield. It is also very important to note that even when a creature is sacrificed on the Altar, if it has a come-into-play effect, like Faerie Sage, Bargul, or Angel, there abilities will still trigger. This makes Faerie Sage a helpful card, as well as Giant Spider! If you want to beat this scenario, you have to make use of the Altar of Sacrifice; you have to achieve the victory condition (30 mana in each house). You can try to outright beat Jafara by killing her, but I'm pretty sure that is imposable. She will overrun you before you even get her down to 800 life. Helga the Whale is hard enough at 150 life! Lol! I've attached a few replays of this scenario so you can see just what I'm talking about, just in case I'm not making any sense! Perhaps the replays will illustrate the scenario better than words can. Here are replays of Jafara on Very Hard difficulty using the Spirit, Goblin, and Chaos classes. Just paste them in your "saves" folder in your "spectromancer" game folder. Then you can view them as replays. Hope this helps!

Since I was doing the campaign as sorcerer, the special victory condition was almost impossible for me, but it is perfectly doable even if you try to win the normal way!

Time has easiest time here; just go alll chrono dragons, lol. Old death 8 was second best... poor Jafara Anyway, just go into elementals

I dont think its impossible to beat down her life, but it requires a very particular strategy: you have to win in presence and forgoe any kind of direct damage plays... just pure presence superiority and creature control, which is the same strategy needed against the Whale.
This follows the basic principle that, life as a resource only allows you to delay and optimize your card usage for a good timing, or it shields you from a timing attack, but in itself it doesnt win a duel... at some point, if an elemental scales beyond 10 attack, anything you throw in front of it is just a waste of a creature, resources and a turn... if its 2 elementals with 10 attack, you effectively have a kill zone in 2 slots and opponent simply loses by not being turn efficient and will never catch up, unless its some crazy double destruct play which is usually more expensive than the elementals themselves, which just makes the opponent weaker in mana turns the next time he tries to reset, until he eventually cannot reset board. Alright, alright! I retract my statement! You can beat Jafara the normal way! Lol It just takes some extra time and planning, but it can be done! I still think it is much much easier to go for the victory condition though. (*Edit note: Plus, by the time you get all set up to to go for the kill, you can probably just go for the Victory Condition anyway rather than finishing her off*) Here's a couple replays to prove that killing a demi-goddess is not imposable (results may vary): Modified by Valentyne on 2014-11-19 02:15:11 srbhkshk | 2014-11-19 14:36:34 |
Its actually very easy to beat Jafara the normal way, pick any elemental (water is great, but others will do just as fine) and spam it, and sooner or later she won't have any place to hide.

Greater Bargul + Master Healer! =)
Just kidding, do what Valentyne and Srbh said. Pick big creatures, especially elementals, to place on the altar without losing too much control of the board. Water Elemental is probably the single best card for this scenario. Sacrifice it a couple times, then place one (or more if you need the healing) on the board somewhere. Jafara will have to spend a lot of time and resources trying to kill or block it, giving you a lot more breathing room to work on pumping your mana in other houses using the Altar.
