Hello! Was wondering if there are any tabletop gamers here in the spectro world. Does anyone here play boardgames, deck building games, or even good-old-fashioned-pen-and-paper rpg's? Anything from Call of Cthulhu, Runebound, Mage Wars, Small World, Decent, Settlers of Catan, Thunderstone, Ticket to Ride, Fluxx, Memoir 44, Risk, Axis and Allies, Pathfinder, D&D, D20 Modern, etc.

Welcome to Spectromancer forum.
I play Agricola, Catan and have just tried Summoner Wars and Astral Towers.

I play tabletop games from my country (Argentina).
T.E.G (copy of RISK), El Estanciero (copy of Monopoly).
I'm very good with dices... many of my friends complain I have in general too much luck. When I roll bad, I laugh because its quite unusual. And of course... I love negotiating with other players. Claudob | 2015-01-03 21:00:26 |
"Byril" specializes in creating paper-based games. But these developers do not write for the PC, but Android.

I play a huge variety of board games (my current favorites being 7 Wonders, Race for the Galaxy, Stratego, Puerto Rico, Twilight Imperium, Betrayal @ House on the Hill, Six Cubes, Scattergories, and Taboo), CCGs (played Pokemon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh, and MTG around the turn of the millenium, and Hearthstone nowadays), and a bit of P&P roleplay (Ars Magica as well as a few original roleplays... I've read the D&D rulebook but never ended up in a game), and always looking for more of any of these types of games that I can play with friends! Also a fan of Poker and social online word games like Acrophobia or Word Riot.
On a related note, has anyone found a good online version of The ($10,000/$25,000/etc.) Pyramid, by any chance?

7 Wonders This, so so so much. It's my husband's and my signature game in our game night group that meets once a month. Have you played with the Babel expansions?

My favourite board game is Cosmic Encounter.

Just recently I picked up an old Go game board at a thrift shop - I can't imagine who would get rid of one! Good luck for me though! One of my favourite boardgames of all time is Dungeon Quest - I used to have hours of fun playing that game. But right now my go-to game is Scattergories - glad to see that one mentioned here, Wave! I used to play D&D a long time ago. It can be fun if you have a good group & a decent DM. But all too often the game just takes on the aspect of yet another dungeon-craw game with a DM who's only goal is to kill the players off - I like more RP than G in my RPGs, at least try to have a plot! Once D&D 4th edition was released, I switched to Pathfinder - much better than D&D in my opinion. But for the past several years I've gotten away from them. On a related note, has anyone found a good online version of The ($10,000/$25,000/etc.) Pyramid, by any chance? Haven't ever encountered one. You could possibly try searching it on the Game Show Network website. Wavelength | 2015-03-01 13:13:11 |
[7 Wonders], so so so much. It's my husband's and my signature game in our game night group that meets once a month. Have you played with the Babel expansions?
Haven't played it with Babel yet, but that looks like a cool set. In theory, the idea of having players cooperate, knowing that they could screw each other over at any moment, is very cool. I'm a big fan of the Leaders set, whereas Cities (while it has a few nifty concepts, like mega-military cards that distort the normal patterns) felt to me like gilding the lily. I used to play D&D a long time ago. It can be fun if you have a good group & a decent DM. But all too often the game just takes on the aspect of yet another dungeon-craw game with a DM who's only goal is to kill the players off - I like more RP than G in my RPGs... I'm of like mind... and thankfully, all of my DMs/GMs so far have been of like mind and have been into storytelling more than sadism. I tried to keep an open mind when I took over as DM for a year in one of the games I'm in... I try to set up enough different possibilities (and allow the players to blindside me with things I never thought of) so that even I don't know in advance what will necessarily happen! I've got a few funny Scattergories stories I could share with you next time we play, by the way... one of my favorites being "Ants on a Highway"!

A little Shogi-bot with own pics: http://www.file-upload.net/download-10602758/japanese-chess.zip.html
It is possible to beat him without reentering (and without taking back a move) 'till level 7. But on level 8 you will not get around of reentering your pieces lol...(or am I wrong Plynx or any other genius??) Modified by StephanieF on 2015-05-13 04:02:43 Ruby456 | 2015-05-16 15:00:10 |

I open this FoLder butt - I found ONLY Pictures no Game inside - Doesen't Matter i have the Chess Master 2009 chess Program thx , anyway .
Sylvia | 2015-05-17 03:56:03 |
There's also an exe inside called Shogi.
But it's not as easy as western chess, much more complex, the most difficult game ever lol, so you should slowly learn it setting the bot to level 1 (weakest)...
(Pieces promote on row 7 (or higher) to Gold-General always if you want to promote, and Rook and Bishop promote to 1 step in each direction added (red-rook lol)...if captured they are the original piece again, so ,a promoted lance after captured is not a Gold-General anymore, it can just be inserted again as a lance...pawns can just be inserted of course if there's no other own pawn on that line...)
I can beat him to level 8 without taking back a move and to level 10 (strongest) with take-back...so quite noob too still lol...a very good concentration-training these game...
Like in martial-arts the master-players have Kyos (Dans)...a very traditional game... Modified by Sylvia on 2015-05-17 03:59:57 JoeChen | 2015-05-18 22:26:31 |
Got him also at level 9 now, but can't show you the mate-pic, 'cause the upload of jpgs doesn't work anymore for me! Why Cooler?? StephanieF | 2015-06-06 20:42:35 |
Great, it works again!
That was of course much harder than Spectro (Where can he insert? lol)...he surrendered...(pic1)
Have also a real board now (pic 2) from Japan via Amazon. Here you can just buy a japanese original board lol (pic3).
