A friend of mine send me a couple of screenshots from another game (big mod actually but they changed even .exe file so it's more like new game) and there are a lot of icons from your game which you can choose as your avatar inside. And it really disturbing because I myself working as a drower and stealing others property pretending you did it by yourself (there are no credits for this pictures) is extremely bad and discouraging. The game's forum is here http://eador.com/B2/viewforum.php?f=38 , I hope you will contact them and this thiefs will apologize and delete stolen content visokihmax | 2017-04-14 15:51:43 |
Just a couple of examples

I believe the devs said at one point they buy the art from an external source. So I think it is possible this game obtained the same art from the same source legitimately.

A third party does the art, but (although I could be mistaken) I don't think the art was bought pre-packaged; I believe it was made for this game. If that is the case, stealing art for anything more than an alpha build is a pretty serious breach of copyright.
If none of the devs respond to this topic within a few weeks, I'll let Cooler know about this personally. Thanks for the good catch, Visokihmax! visokihmax | 2017-04-14 22:40:23 |
That's not the first time they stole an art. Last time it was rats from Warhammer for their new race. But after 2 years of "Hey guys, we (fans) dont like that you use not your own art but stolen without credits from other game" they eventually redraw it. The race itself is still a copypaste though. And I did ask developers like do they think they did something wrong with essentially stealing an art or it's ok for them but for the time I'm writing it I get no response. They also have a FAQ but the answer for "what do we think about copyright" leads to nonexistent page. And pls, do remember it's a mod. And while it's huge team which work on it for like 5-7 years they are not associated with developer of original game by any mean. He actually doesnt own rights for his game anyway because of publisher and he can't even stop the mod developers by himself if he would want to

Oh, this is a mod that is developed by someone other than Eador's developers? I see. Is the mod itself commercial (paid/profitable) in any way?

http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?t=2935 all the links are in 1st message. You dont need to pay for using mod, but they have a "donate to support the development" links for PayPal, Yandex-money and Kiwi-money accounts. I have no ideas did they receive any money though. And one of the developers? is streaming beta and while it's not presented live version on Twitch pretty constantly. Never watched his streams so I cant remember his name and is he getting money for it Modified by visokihmax on 2017-04-15 16:17:31 Wavelength | 2017-04-16 06:34:39 |
I understand, thanks!
Will report directly to Cooler soon if it looks like the devs have still missed this thread. |
