Mod Note: This has been confirmed as not hacking and not cheating, so I have scrubbed the accused player's name from this post, and closed the topic. Feel free to create new topics if you want to discuss other stuff like the card's description, though. - Wave

His name is ((scrubbed)). Please permaban and lock this guy's account. He uses Insanian Shaman, combined with Astral Guard, to not only lock my resources, but to drain my Time resource EIGHT TIMES IN A ROW. Is someone going to tell me that that is completely random? Because according to the card's description, Insanian Shaman is supposed to reduce a RANDOM power--not the highest one. Here is the replay:
You'll notice that it happens, again and again and again, near the end of the game.
By the way, if you want to access replay files, you can store them in the following directory:
C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Spectromancer\Saves Modified by Wavelength on 2017-11-27 21:20:57
i cannot view the replay now, but bear in mind that insanian shaman will only reduce a power that has enough value to reduce. for example: if you have 1 fire, 1 water, 1 air, 1 earth, 10 time (and your opponent has insanian shaman and astral guard) then your time power will get hit 5 times in a row (no randomness involved)

Thank you for the reply. The card description REALLY needs to clarify that, because that was exactly the situation that was going on.
And, technically, a value of 1 SHOULD still be able to be reduced to 0, so Insanian Shaman actually becomes quite OP when combined with Astral Guard.
On a totally different note, even though I'm logged in, I'm now considered "unregistered", and have to put in a new name not associated with my account every time I post. Very cool.
trust me, there are no OP cards or classes in this game. it is just too deep for you to comprehend entirely (yet). please understand that i do not mean this in an underestimating way. i know it sounds very patronizing but in all honesty i believe that a new player needs at least 500 games under his/her belt to start grasping the various strategies in their entirety and consolidate this knowledge. spectromancer's extraordinary depth and (almost) flawless balance is what makes it so special and unique. i really hope you are not discouraged by my comments, but instead i hope you are intrigued to delve even deeper into the game
i would strongly advise you to read through two of the above (pinned) threads "spectromancer: set of basic rules" "pinned: important threads and info" NerfTimePlease | 2017-10-12 17:07:12 |
trust me, there are no OP cards or classes in this game. Except Time class. Kealah | 2017-10-17 07:06:58 |

You do sound patronizing, actually. Or "humble bragging", at best.
It's not a matter of game comprehension--it's a matter of the card not properly describing what it even does.
This is actually my second account and I've casually played this game on and off for close to a decade. Considering that a single match can often take 15-25 mins (or longer), I personally think it's really sad when I see players with thousands of games on their records.
Let's say an average match for a player lasts 20 minutes, and they have 3000 games under their belt (which is also not uncommon--I've seen many such players). That's a thousand hours of Spectromancer--and that's just pathetic and sad.
So for you to casually suggest that everyone should dump 500 matches into this game, just because you've done that yourself--you actually shouldn't boast about that. It's very sad.
A final note: every fantasy card game of this sort has cards of inherently different value. The balancing in Spectromancer is actually fairly decent, but it's by far not perfect: and for you to say something as patently untrue as: "there are no OP cards or classes in this game," reveals that you are delusional. I looked at your game. You yourself decided to lose this game. Instead of using 2 times the Wall of Fire, you decided to accumulate Time Mana. This led to your unconditional defeat.
fast duels are also an option (i love them personally)
but even in regular duels, duration average is definitely lower than 20 min (except when a necromancer is involved)
I find it weird to read pity about a game being great and people enjoying it a lot. It's one of the best games in "fun per time" category, every time I play other great turn-based games I always feel sorry about them being not so "fun per time". |
